A week in the life of Laura Horton

TCO Consultant.

Day 1 & 2:

‎'A week in a life of' belongs to me this week, right now you have two instalments in one go! Yesterday began in a huge post office queue, this wasn't an issue as it gave me time to right down my to-do's! (I had to post off my accounts for March, they were slightly late!)

I then drove to Wales where I am based until Wednesday evening.

I love this country, the people here, and their accents!

I am spending two days in a practice implementing the TCO role firmly in place. I love doing this and it falls in nicely with the manifesto: “Change people’s perception of dentistry.” This is what TCOs do day in, day out, and I can't wait to crack on with day two tomorrow!

This evening I was taken out for dinner by the principal. After posting this, I am going to have a nice cuppa and relax in front of the TV.

Day 3:

Today was great, after a good night’s sleep I spent the final day with the team in Wales. They are now ready to rock n roll with the TCO role!

Today I believe I have used habits 6 and 7, to inspire and mentor the practice members here.

I have always been into self development, (habit 5 – Excel!) and use my time in the car to listen to audio books. On my drive to and from Wales I have now listened to The Big Moo. I read the book some time ago, and wanted to listen to the audio as a refresher.

I arrived home 20 minutes ago to a lovely hot bath, new bubble bath and shower gel (gorgeous) dinner cooking and wine chilled - I am one lucky lady.

I miss my man like crazy when I am away but he makes up for it when I come home. I am so happy that this time next year we will be married (Habits 2,3,8 and 9).

#heartyoursmile - I heart my life

Day 4:

Today has been crazy! Meetings, calls, emails, school pick up and then a webinar, hardly anytime at all, in fact no time to work out which leaves me up tight as I won't get to the gym until Monday now.

The day has ended in tip top fashion - a lovely meal out with my fiancé.

Tomorrow morning I'm heading off for a long weekend with my sisters, so Glyn and I spent the evening with no distractions, nice food, nice wine, and good conversation - happy days!

Glyn is the person that helps me, and makes me switch off.

I am always asked "How do you stop working?" or "How do you have a great work/ life balance?"

The answer is my man that ensures that the computer is off, the phone is off and we have time together, as much I complain I have to say that I sleep very well night after night!

Day 5:

Day in a life of final day: I am writing this from Ebsfleet international station waiting to catch the Eurostar to Paris.

I'm taking the trip with my two sisters (both younger).

This is my first trip to Paris, right now I am with my youngest sister Faye, we're meeting Sarah in Paris, she had meetings out there yesterday.

The reason for the trip is to celebrate Sarah's 30th.

I'm really looking forward to it and will be sure to send some photos through next week!
