Student Reps

Nationwide Student President

Hi everyone! I am the nationwide student representative for HYS. I got involved with the charity after I organised and marketed an event at King`s College London. This was a talk by the Semi-finalist of the show 'The Apprentice'. The talk raised £500 for Heart Your Smile. Subsequently, I joined the charity`s committee and attended several meetings. I was also kindly awarded the 'Champion Award' and decided to set up a student rep scheme in order to spread awareness about the charity amongst young dentists. I am honoured to be part of such a fantastic cause and hope to further my work with Heart Your Smile as I continue on my professional career.

Hi, I'm a current second year dental student studying at Cardiff. I'm a student rep for HYS to help in changing the public perception of dentistry & improve the dental experience for all, something the dentists of tomorrow can do. I am also a volunteer for the Teddy Bear Hospital charity, helping educate and give children an insight into the world of heath care. Dentistry aside, I'm a keen squash player and baker, and love to wind surf from time to time. I'll also be writing a blog for HYS so feel free to check it out!

Hey! I'm a dental student at Cardiff University!I am a keen fundraiser and involved in various charities over the years, including Teddy Bear Hospital. I was Dental Lead on the Cardiff MedDay 2014 committee; an event which aimed to increase health awareness issues in children by raising money for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association and Noah's Ark Foundation. I have infectious enthusiasm, a go-getting attitude and Irish charm!

Hi I'm a third year dental student at Kings College London. Although oral hygiene awarenessis still an issue in the UK, going to India every year, seeing locals in pain without toothbrushes, made me realise how important it is to start educating people about the importance of oral hygiene. I've helped out in a clinic in India, giving basic oral hygiene instruction and provided toothbrushes and toothpaste. Recently I visited Honduras where I worked with a team of dentist doing extractions and offering guidance to locals. These experiences have been satisfying and they highlighted that globally, neglect to oral hygiene and dentistry is prevalent. I want to be part of changing that. I have been on the dental society committee at Kings College London and I am currently tennis captain for my university. I am looking forward to supporting Heart Your Smile and affecting positive change in the dental profession.

Hi there, I'm a third year dental student at Bristol! I'm really excited to have been given this fantastic opportunity to represent Heart Your Smile and my dental school. I already have a few ideas up my sleeve of fun ways to fund raise and promote the charity's important messages. Looking forward to the year ahead!

Hi! I'm a 4th year dental student at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I am always open to trying new things and meeting new people. With Heart Your Smile, I am excited to spread positivity and passion about the profession and I look forward to changing the public's perception of dentistry through supporting community projects. I anticipate meeting new students at our fundraising events and encouraging them to do the same.

Hi, I'm a fifth year student at King College London. I've volunteered for Heart Your Smile at various dental events, and helped with fundraising for the charity. I am really passionate about the charitable aims and objectives of Heart Your Smile and believe in everything the charity stand for.

Hi, I am a second year dental student at King's College London! As a Student Rep of HYS I am keen to promote oral health in an interactive way, through shows, charity events and outreach programs. In the past, I have been heavily involved with charities at school. As the Chair of the Service Volunteers Committee, I planned events for the wider community and was also a mentor for children in Year 5 from the surrounding schools.

Hi, I am a fourth year dental student at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I'm extremely passionate about this charity's goals and I'm enthusiastic to work alongside the Heart Your Smile team to help change the perception and accessibility to dentistry in society.

Hello! I'm a fourth year dental student at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I'm hugely excited and feel very privileged to be on the HYS Committee this year. I look forward to engaging with various communities, working with my fellow peers to raise the profile of this amazing charity and cannot wait to see many more people join the HYS family. Hope to see you soon!

Hi I'm a final year dental student at the University of Liverpool. Heart your Smile is an amazing charity that I recently got involved with. I have always had a passion for promoting oral health to the community and spreading a positive message. As well as helping promote the charity, I have also recently completed a tooth brushing oral health project in poorer schools in India as part of an elective. I am a student representative for the BDSO which is an organisation screening the public for any oral health related conditions. I have written a paper on the changes within the NHS and how they have affected the public. In my spare time I love playing the piano and catching up on reality tv! We really hope to raise awareness of Heart Your Smile over the next few years so get involved now!

Hello! I'm Sophie and I'm currently a 4th year dental student at Bristol. I was recently elected as charity representative for UBDSS and have been enjoying fulfilling my role through planning charity events, fundraising and organising donations to local homeless shelters. I'm enthusiastic and grateful to have been given the opportunity to become a heart your smile student representative and am excited to help try and refresh the public's perception of dentistry.

Hey there, I am a third year dental student at Kings College London. I thoroughly enjoy participating in all types of outreach and fundraising from bucket collections, soup kitchens and bake sales to organising huge charity dinners and award ceremonies. I joined HYS as I would like to create initiatives at schools, universities and beyond with the intention to greatly help our patients and members of the dental profession. Through working with the amazing team, my goal this year is to improve patient self care and the portrayal of all dental professionals in a more positive light, using education and charity in a fun and engaging way. I look forward to the beneficial differences we will all collectively make and hope you can join us on this journey!
